The Kit Kat Irish Schools' Track & Field Championships took place in Tullamore at the weekend. This event is widely regarded as the highest standard in juvenile athletics in the country as it covers all schools north and south and draws its competitors from all sports. It was a good day for the Pres Athenry with Claire McNamara striking gold in the Senior Girls High Jump with a jump of 1.63m and Conor Caulfield taking bronze in the Junior Boys 200m in a time of 24.99. Maeve Curley (Seamount) claimed silver in the Junior Girls 1200m Walk in a time of 5.56.77. Cathriona Farrell (Athenry VS) retained her long jump title by taking gold in the Junior Girls event with a jump of 5.10m.
