Three Galway teenagers were part of a strong performance by the Irish team at the Schools' Pentathlon International in Scotland on Sunday.

14-year old Claire Rockall of Calasanctius Oranmore put in a fantastic performance against the top athletes from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales to finish in 5th position overall in the U16 Girls competition. Her performance is all the more impressive given that she is eligible to compete in the same age group for 2 more years. In the U18 boys, Patrick Kennedy of Presentation Headford finished in 6th place overall, with Daniel Loughnane of Garbally College Ballinasloe in 10th place. The Irish team finished in 1st place in the U18 Girls and in 2nd place in the 3 other age groups - U18 boys, U16 girls and U16 boys. Individual results for the 3 Galway athletes were as follows: C. Rockall: Long jump 4.73, 60m hurdles 9.98, high jump 1.51, shot putt 8.11, 800m 2.20.08; P Kennedy: Long jump 6.38, 60m hurdles 8.76, shot putt 9.14, 800m 2.07.28, 200m 23.78; D Loughnane: Long jump 5.48, 60m hurdles 8.69, shot putt 10.74, 800m 2.05.52, 200m 24.11.
